Success Story: Courtney
Everyone has a dream.
Mine is to become an elite or professional status-level runner at the Half-Marathon distance and also run a full Marathon and triathlon next year. When I am 25 I hope to complete Comrades in Africa.
I have goals.
And where there is a goal, there is a means of reaching it. I first started working with a trainer at Defining Eve in October of 2004. Initially I started working one-on-one with a trainer because I felt that it would improve my lifestyle overall. I since have shifted the focus of my personal training sessions to reaching my potential as a distance runner. I want to push myself as far as my body will let me, to a place where I know I am accomplishing everything that I am capable of.
Today I find myself ranking among the top runners in my age group, with potential for national-level recognition. I am living my dream and together with my trainer (who sees my potential and pushes me, while respecting my limitations), I will continue to strive to achieve all that I can.
I have learned many things on this journey, including the value of rest! I recently got to the point where my training was at a plateau (I was even stalling when it was time to go out for a run, which is not like me at all) and taking the one, two or three days off and training using different modalities has really helped me to regain both my physical and mental readiness.
I would also like to add without the training that I have received at Defining Eve, I don’t think I would have been able to achieve the success of getting a running sponsor this year, Goody Team StayPut. I feel, like Defining Eve, the Goody brand represents strength in women and the fact that we truly are able to accomplish anything that we set out to do.
