Success Story: Kathleen
When I first started exercising, my goals were always based on weight loss. I was focused on the ups and downs of the scale-, which led to ups and downs in my mood. It was when I started working with a personal trainer from Defining Eve that I started to set new, more diverse goals. I had finally really answered the question I most often asked myself: why train?
This summer I completed my first half Ironman; The Great White North (July 2005). There were twenty weeks of training that led up to this 6.5-hour race. Not every workout was grueling, but each workout was a step towards my goal.
It was very encouraging to have a trainer and customized program to keep me on track. My trainer designed a program that was tailored to my goals and took into account my hectic schedule; she even managed to make my training fit with my month-long trip to India.
As a part of my triathlon training, I also joined some of the spin (cycling) classes at the studio. The group classes were a lot of fun and I was surprised to find that my running speed and endurance benefited as much as my cycling fitness.
I am very proud of my accomplishments and extremely excited about my next race- a half marathon!! Though I would like to lose some weight and tone up more, I have other important goals I want to reach such as competing in another half Ironman again next year.
I have learned a valuable lesson from the trainers on the Defining Eve Team; if you can perceive it, you can achieve it! This summer I achieved what I set out to accomplish- and I feel on top of the world.
