Success Story: Michele
I’m middle-aged. That’s why I’m committing myself to fitness. Anyone who’s reached this decade or two of her life knows that it requires work to keep in shape. Before I started working with the personal trainers at Defining Eve, fitting anything into my already busy life seemed impossible to me. I’m a working woman with a busy career that takes me out of town regularly. And I like being busy in my life. Just not busy exercising. The appointments keep me motivated.
I have a secret to tell you. I always dread my exercise sessions. It’s not because the trainers aren’t wonderful, they are. I’m pleased with how much they know. And my progress, too. And, I love the feeling of euphoria I get afterwards. But, honestly, I just don’t love to exercise. And I don’t think I’m alone. So why do I do it? I want to be a woman who can still move around and travel in my next decade, and the one after that.
My decision to get fit is probably typical. When I was in high school, I played sports and when my children were little I took classes and worked out three times a week. As the kids grew, my career became a priority, I suppose I was making up for time out of the workforce, and I let my commitment to fitness slide. Every three months or so, though, I’d start an exercise plan and two weeks in, I’d get an ache or a pain and I’d have to rest until it went away. Three months later, the pattern would repeat itself. Along the way, I started seeing advertisements for Defining Eve and finally I said, “I’m going to do this.”
My experience has been better than I expected. The aches and pains? I suffer few complaints and certainly nothing that’s sidelined me. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable and they keep me in correct alignment. They can diagnose why I’m having pain in an area and help me strengthen that area. Truthfully, when I exercised on my own, I barely broke a sweat on a walk in the ravine. Now, by the end of an hour of functional training, I’m soaked in sweat.
The trainers have been able to help me fit exercise into my life when I’m not traveling, too. I’ve got several 20 minutes to 1/2 hour workouts to do while I’m in my hotel room. And, I actually do them. The results are noticeable. I’ve lost lots of inches, and I feel good and strong. And what's more, I'm in some of the best shape of my life at 52 years old.
