Success Story: Penny
In July 2004 I sat down and took a good look at my life. It had been years since I had been consistently active, and as a result weight had crept on. I knew that I needed to start exercising, and I wanted to lose weight, but had no idea what I should be doing. At age 47, my daughters are older and I felt that it was the right time to focus on myself to improve my own fitness level. I decided to hire a personal trainer from Defining Eve and started working with her three times a week.
When I started exercising a year ago, I had never been on an elliptical trainer. My first time on it, I could barely do 5 minutes. Today I am proud to say that I am comfortable spending up to 30 minutes on the elliptical and have learned to do ball exercises and work with free weights with proper form and technique. I am stronger than I have ever been and more aware of my body and how to take care of it.
I feel more energetic and I am losing weight (almost 30 lbs so far!). I am encouraged by the results I am seeing and I know that I have finally succeeded in making exercise a part of my lifestyle.
I still meet with my trainer twice a week. We focus on free weight, stability ball and pilates exercises during our sessions together. In addition to my personal training sessions, I work out on my treadmill at home and/or on an elliptical trainer at a club 2-3 times per week.
Together, my trainer and I have continued to set new fitness goals; to lose more weight- up to another 30 lbs, to increase my strength and cardiovascular fitness, and maybe even start running this summer.
My perspective on exercise is really very different than it was a year ago. Now, I look to use the stairs whenever possible. I don't mind parking and walking a little bit further to the grocery store. I am much more aware of what I am eating and put more effort into planning my meals.
I am finally living the lifestyle I want to lead. Defining Eve has helped me to make so many positive changes, I can't say enough about the wonderful experience I have had. Thank you so much!
